Melanotan II is a synthetic cyclic analog of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (α-MSH) with a D-Phe substitution at position 7 and cyclization via an amide bridge. It is a broad melanocortin receptor agonist (MC1R–MC4R) and has been studied for melanin synthesis stimulation, CNS effects via MC3R/MC4R, and the interplay between melanocortin signaling and metabolic function.
